This world of ours spins in tighter circles than we think. Never in my life would I have ever thought the people whom I served with a joyful heart would be serving myself.  For a couple years a served at my church in the children’s ministry as a very part time child care provider for toddlers age walking to about Two years old so that their mothers might  attend bible study classes. 

Over the years, many of the families have found membership in other churches, yet, some of the mothers remember the man whom, “Took good care of their children”. Recently; as a I arrived at a local church for food and fellowship with local homeless friends; I was blessed to have been recognized one such  mother of two children whom I haven’t seen in over five years. Though awkward, it brought joy to my heart to know the small impact I made on their lives had not gone forgotten.

I could borrow a cliche like, “What goes around comes around” or “Treat others as you would have them treat yourself”. I prefer, “You reap what you so” and “But the fruit of the Spirit is: love, joy, peace, long-suffering, kindness, goodness, faith,  meekness, self-control; against such things there is no law.”

Call it karma or whatever you’d like, the bottom line is; the things we do or not, people we help and the people we hurt today will come back to us as a time best suited for it’s purpose. The Lord GOD in heaven above will chose to use our moments of indiscretion to teach us a life lesson or our good works to reward us at a time when it most needed. 

That special time of year is upon us again. Perhaps the only time of the year many of us take a moment to ponder what we are truly thankful for in our lives. Why is this? I think, perhaps we tend to forget what we are truly thankful to have or survived. The people we have known; whom have gone on before us, people whom have been a minor or integral part of our lives; have influenced our daily perspective of the world around us, were we thankful for the time we had them with us? Did we thank them for their daily influence in our lives? Too often we get warped up in our daily routines that we forget to acknowledge the people whom have molded us into what we have become. Are we thankful on a daily basis? Do we remember to give thanks? Perhaps one day before our souls leave our bodies and we gather around the Throne of God, the first thing on our minds will be how thankful we are for all Gods blessings.

We receive Gods blessings everyday.  Even in our darkest hours, HE is with us and ready to help us as soon as we ask.  I can’t imagine for even a moment, God having a look of surprise on his face and responding, “WOW you what? I didn’t see that coming”.  When my children were small, I remember the times when one would keep trying, I would offer to help, but the head-strong child would turn away determined to do it their self. Only when they were completely exasperated, did they hand it over for help.  Even as adults, we tend to believe that we can do it by ourselves and don’t require any assistance.  Only when we “Let Go and Let GOD” take care of  the issue, do we find resolution/closure.  By chronologizing the blessings in my life, perhaps others might see GOD working in their own lives.
