Born to Samuel and Evon Kelly. He was; a Boy Scout, God Father (and good friend) to my son, helping hand and most of all, my best friend. We met in Fifth grade and never really strayed too far apart. We got into trouble together, but never quite enough to get caught. In Boy Scouts, we were always together; from hitting tent pegs off the back of the baker tents, venturing off at snow camp to getting in trouble while paying for getting in trouble. Though I couldn’t see it until it was too late to admit it; Doug was my best friend and at times, my only friend. He is a valued part of my family and is greatly missed.
Note: The young passing of my friend has left a hole in my life. This is my way of bringing about closure and making sense of his untimely departure.
Interestingly, I still find myself to this day having conversations with him, in my head. He always was able to put a unique perspective on things and make you think, even if you couldn’t agree with him.
I did my own blog post about him a few years back, not long after I discovered his passing, which can be found here: http://davestuff.wordpress.com/2009/10/14/the-price-of-friendship-pt-1/. Small word of warning: I consider this a sort of semiprivate blog, separate from family and close friends that know me, and thus I tend to be very candid and honest there, including occasional rough language, so be warned. And my opinions there are never meant to harm or insult anyone (well, mostly), but just to be honest with myself and things.
