Am I the only one out here whom believes that the best way to cut government spending and balance the budget is to issue a pay cut to our legislatures? In the private sector people are expected to preform to a minimal level to expect to be replaced. Some companies, the employees are taking a cut to keep the company from going bankrupt. Cutting the prescription payments to pharmacist is forcing them to take a cut or turn away patents they have been serving for years. Let our congress take a 1% cut, take away the unlimited sick days, I get 5, that should be more than enough for them. Last I counted, there are 52 weeks in a year, I’m expect to be at work 47 of them (16 years gives me a good vacation), i haven’t counted them, but I’m inclined to think they are in session 5 weeks a year. Excluded from laws which would leave me in hot water for years and lifetime medical benefits after just one term. Lets stop the madness. Now is the time and this is the place, change tomorrow, today.
Twas the night Jesus came and all through the house,
not a person was praying – not one in the house.
The Bible was left on the shelf without care,
for no one thought Jesus would come there.
The children were dressing to crawl into bed,
not once ever kneeling or bowing their head.
Mom in the rocking chair with babe on her lap,
she was watching the ‘Late Show’ as I took a nap.
When out of the east there rose such a clatter,
I sprang to my feet to see what was the matter.
Away to the window I flew like a flash,
tore open the shutters and lifted the sash.
When what to my wondering eyes should appear,
but Angels proclaiming that Jesus was here.
The light of His face made me cover my head,
was Jesus returning just like He’d said?
Though I possessed worldly wisdom and wealth,
I cried when I saw Him – in spite of myself.
In the ‘Book of Life’ which He held in His hand,
was written the name of every saved man.
He spoke not a word as He searched for my name,
when He said, “It’s not here!” my head hung in shame.
The people whose names had been written with Love,
He gathered to take to His Father above.
With those who were ready He rose without sound,
while all the others were left standing around.
I fell to my knees – but it was too late,
I’d waited too long and thus sealed my fate!
I stood and cried as they rose out of sight,
Oh, if only I’d known that this was the night.
In the words of this poem the meaning is clear,
THE COMING OF JESUS IS NOW DRAWING NEAR!
There’s only one life and when comes the last call,
we’ll find out the Bible was TRUE after all!
It has come time for me to re-evaluate my path for the up coming years. Calling into question the substance of my faith and belief I am taking some time for prayer. Meditating on the written word and waiting patently for God to guide me in His path of righteousness. Part of me finds it hard to deny the path of the enlightened in believing that religion was created by man to explain the things happening. With our technological advances explaining the mechanics of such things as lightning and earthquakes, that might seem to nullify the need to believe in a higher power. Keeping my head clear, plunging myself into prayer, worship and study, I hope to clear my mind.
That special time of year is upon us again. Perhaps the only time of the year many of us take a moment to ponder what we are truly thankful for in our lives. Why is this? I think, perhaps we tend to forget what we are truly thankful to have or survived. The people we have known; whom have gone on before us, people whom have been a minor or integral part of our lives; have influenced our daily perspective of the world around us, were we thankful for the time we had them with us? Did we thank them for their daily influence in our lives? Too often we get warped up in our daily routines that we forget to acknowledge the people whom have molded us into what we have become. Are we thankful on a daily basis? Do we remember to give thanks? Perhaps one day before our souls leave our bodies and we gather around the Throne of God, the first thing on our minds will be how thankful we are for all Gods blessings.
The supreme court of California is hearing arguments about the constitutionality of Proposition 8 the “Gay marriage ban”. Where are the rallying Christians supporting the biblical institution on marriage? Have we become so passive-aggressive that we are going to sit and watch? Remember, we are called as a people to be as a light to the world. Meaning, we are to live a life as an example to the world, spreading his name to all the people. God has has given us marriage by example and definition. One man and one woman. The moral majority has spoken, lets not be silenced by the immoral minority.
With the announcement of the introduction of a Gay marriage bill for California in the mid-term elections of 2010 or perhaps the Presidential election of 2012, I feel it is necessary to ask the question, “What does the bible say about it?” As Christians, we are called to be as a light to the world (Mat 5:14) and not to be conformed to it (Rom 12:1-2). If we believe the bible to be the unfaultable word of the God of Abraham and of his sons Isaac and Ishmael and Heavenly Father of Jesus Christ of Nazarene, understanding the tested 66 books of the currently accepted bible, accept it in its whole omitting nothing. We were not given the word to pick or choose what we want to believe, but rather, to read and learn what God requires of us. Jesus came to fulfill the Law, not to condemn it. Though he was our sacrificial lamb long before we were born, he did not change the Law. During the upcoming weeks, we will look into what God had to say through the Law. God Bless.
